God’s thoughts about you are good!
Watching my son grow is one of the most amazing things about parenthood. I recall the tiny images of him from the scans while he was still forming in my womb. Though we couldn’t make out clearly what each body part was. It was surreal to just watch and experience a whole human being growing inside of me!
Recently, while I watched him argue with his Dad, a thought popped up in my mind. No matter how naughty he gets somedays, if anyone were to ask me about him, unless he’s unwell, I would subconsciously smile before giving them all the latest updates about how cool, how intelligent, how kind, how thoughtful he is. If in any way I were to refer to the different ways he challenges me, I would naturally not dwell so much on them. But guess what; I am not so different from most parents.
I am yet to find an active and present parent who when asked how their child is would go straight to talk about all the horrible things about their child. For a few occasions I have received such sentiments, it has been in the lightest of moments just to share and laugh about parenting struggle.
Overall, every parent will most certainly think and speak positively about their child. Why? I believe it is because the child is a part of their core. They have been a part of their formation. They feel them, they share a special bond with them.
Imagine God, our Father. The perfect, all-knowing, loving Father who created you and me in His very image! Can you stop for a second and let that sink in. Now reflect on this scripture: “
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV
Friend, God not only thinks good thoughts about you, He has great plans for you. When He made you, He looked at you and said, “S/He is good. Let us launch her into the earth” And then, He released you to earth with a special purpose, one you are well equipped for.
The earth is imperfect and many times we are dragged down into its imperfections, when our flesh fails us and we give in to sin and broken thoughts. When we allow everyone and everything but God define who we are. But He still waits on the other side for us to recognize His love and find our way back home.
For years, I lived a life of less than… I believed the lies that had been projected unto me as if it where the truth. I gave so much attention to my feelings rather than subjecting them to God’s Truth, in His Word. I forgot to fix my gaze on God’s love, in the end, that just drove me away from His sweet fellowship. I know what it feels like to be there. Where your failures glare at you more profoundly. But the more I embrace God’s love, the better I understand my purpose and the greater I appreciate how I made. Just perfect for it! I have found that even in my lowest moments, God still thinks I am the best.
So I wanted to share this truth with every one of you who believes that God created you, He loves you. Even if you have walked away from Him, He is waiting. Even when the enemy tells you otherwise, God loves you so much that He chose you. He chose to die for you before you even knew you needed His redemption power.
